Tapiwa Dingwiza, Curriculum Manager for ICT, Business, Media & Art

Tapiwa Dingwiza, Curriculum Manager for ICT, Business, Media & Art, had a hands-on role in preparing Team USA for the recent Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina.

Working as part of the team behind Polo Ralph Lauren’s official ceremony uniforms, she brought her technical expertise to an international stage. For Tapiwa, the experience represented both a professional milestone and a rare behind‑the‑scenes view into large‑scale garment production at an international level.

An alumnus of London South East Colleges, having achieved an Extended Diploma in fashion at then-Greenwich Community College, Tapiwa went onto study Bespoke Tailoring at the London College of Fashion where she graduated with honours. This background, coupled with a keen interest in evolving techniques, positioned her well for the demands of Olympic‑level production.

In preparation for the Winter Olympics, she undertook detailed research into fashion trends, both current runway directions and the long-standing design codes associated with Ralph Lauren. She studied the label’s historical choices, focusing closely on tailoring details and signature styling elements. Alongside, she continued to refine her technical skills.

Reflecting on the experience, Tapiwa said: “As a Curriculum Manager, this experience has given me first-hand insight into industry leading standards that directly strengthen my management, leadership, and teaching practice. Real world application, especially at an Olympics scale, brings authenticity to lessons on design, media production, textiles, branding, and creative arts.”

Looking ahead, she plans to expand both her managerial and technical expertise by continuing to engage with industry and community projects. The Olympic experience has strengthened her commitment to keeping her practice closely aligned with real-world industry standards.
